SUPER G RACE

The second of the speed events, Super G is more technical than Downhill with less vertical drop and closer gates. With a start elevation of 1,555 metres, athletes will descend through approximately 50 gates forcing racers into over 49 changes in direction. Speed meets finesse, accuracy and laser focus in this race.

PARALLEL MIXED

TEAM EVENT

This exciting mixed team event seas athletes face off in a head-to-head duel held on two identical parallel courses. Teams of four (two men & two women) from 16 different countries will compete across two runs. The fastest of the two heats advance to the next round.

ALPINE COMBINED

This event requires athletes to be versatile and excel in speed and technical abilities as they compete in both Super G (speed ) and Slalom (tech) runs. Times from each run are combined to determine the final ranking and podium positions. Skiers tend to specialize in one discipline or the other, so this race is unique in testing the all-around skills of the athletes.

GIANT SLALOM

The fastest of the technical events, a Giant Slalom course has more turns than Super G and Downhill because of the large number of gates to run. Starting at 1,815 metres, skier will descend through approximately 51 gates with over 45 changes in direction. The race is contested in two heats on the same day and on two different courses. The times of the two heats are added together to determine the final ranking.

SLALOM

The most technical of the alpine skiing disciplines, Slalom is a true test in laser focus and reaction time. Skiers face approximately 60 gates head-on making very fast turns and quick changes in directions. This impressive race to watch is contested in two rounds on two different courses. The time of the two rounds are added together to determine who will stand on the podium.

What is the COVID-19 action plan?

The FIS Alpine Junior World Ski Championships will be held at Panorama Mountain resort from March 1 to 9, 2022. Panorama will welcome competitors, athlete supporters and spectators from around the world. During this unique time of pandemic, special provisions must be made to ensure the safety of the participants.

This plan will outline the mitigating actions that will be used to reduce the spread of COVID-19 during the event. This plan will be used in conjunction with the Panorama Mountain Resort Communicable Disease Prevention Plan.
